AROUND PALACIOS

Located on the scenic shores of Matagorda Bay, Palacios, TX, is a quiet paradise for birders, fishers, and everyone else who loves the outdoors. Palacios is small-town America at its best: the people are friendly, the scenery is fantastic, and the sunsets over the water are spectacular.

FOR THE FISHERMEN

Palacios is a fisherman's paradise. The most popular species caught here are Spotted Trout, Red drum, and Black drum.
It's home to 3 public lighted fishing piers - we enjoy the one just a block away for night fishing.

Feel free to bring your boat or kayak as you are less than 2 blocks from one of the free boat launches in town.

PALACIOS BEACH

Along the west end of the south bay seawall at Railroad Park is a man-made sand beach, perfect for launching small sailboats, building sand castles, sunbathing, and beach picnicking.

EXPLORE THE PARKS

South Bay Park has  a great sea side themed playground for kids of all ages featuring slides, swings, climbers, and play panels at ground level that provide children with fun and safe challenges.

East Bay Park has Pirate-themed elements include a picket wall with ship's wheel, custom treasure panel, octopus panel, pirate flag mast, and more.

Main Street Park's walking trail and gazebo is a peaceful place to take some time to enjoy nature.

CITY BY THE SEA MUSEUM

The City by the Sea Museum collections commemorate life in the area from the Karankawa tribes and French exploration in the 1600s to the community's growth during WWII and into the 20th Century.

SHOP MAIN STREET

Like a lot of small towns, Palacios is working hard to revitalize their Main Street into a haven for local makers and boutique shops. Take a stroll and see what goodies you can find to take back from your trip.

LIVE MUSIC AT THE OUTRIGGER

Take in a concert at The Outrigger Event Center. The Outrigger has hosted concerts, parties and fundraisers both inside and out.  Wine and beer are always available at their well-stocked bar. It is conveniently located at the end of the block, so you can walk home safely!

ENJOY A GLASS OF WINE

Take a short drive (30-min) to Lavaca Bluffs Vineyard and Winery to enjoy an afternoon wine tasting. They offer "history by the bottle" in naming wines and providing historical or geographical descriptions of the region with every label.
